Industrial imagery series 1991 - 2015

The series reflects a revived interest in figuration.

While industry is an appropriate subject for painterly methods and techniques it evolved primarily from Gordon’s own experience living in Newcastle with sever respiratory problems and it is a protest against toxicity and contamination in the environment. The plumed smokestack is heavy industry’s symbol of bad air, fouled air and banal and gritty suburbs.

The Industrial Images series was developed from local research and was exhibited in Newcastle, Hunter Valley and Canberra.
