Parody Flag Series 1979 - 1981

The Flag Series was completed in New York in the early 1980’s when America was consumed with fervour and frustration with the Iranian hostage crisis.

“The US national emblem was everywhere while I was enjoying stimulating gallery art and these two experiences fused. I speculated how selected artists would paint this US flag today, (chosen on an homage basis) and the final presentation is intended to parody nationalism.”

A selection of this series was shown at a Woodstock Gallery, New York and in Newcastle, Hunter Valley and Solander Galleries, Canberra.
